Apprenticeships - Making it relevant
You can take on an Apprentice at any time, you do not need to wait until September. Each sector will have a different time scale for apprentices to become qualified, but a general rule of thumb is 12-18 months for a Level 2 and 18-24 months for a Level 3.
Each and every job role and company is different, so we can ensure that the qualifications your Apprentice is working towards are relevant and specific to your needs.
Mandatory units
Most qualifications have some units within them which must be completed. These are usually centred around health and safety, team work, customer service and other generic employability skills. There may be some sector specific units too, which are set by the Sector Skills Council for each Apprenticeship framework.
Optional units
You can have an input on some optional units, especially those on the job learning hours, to ensure the qualification relates directly to the job in hand. For quality assurance purposes the College won’t be able to deliver each and every unit on offer. However, working together, you and the assessor will create a programme which directly reflects the needs of your company.
