Diplomas

What is a Diploma?
The Diploma is an exciting qualification based around 'hands-on' learning. Each one has been developed in partnership with local employers, schools and colleges. Diplomas are offered at three levels and combine academic subjects with practical hands-on skills to prepare you for either work or university.
What are the benefits of studying for a Diploma?
If you choose a Diploma, you will be able to combine class work with practical skills and work experience. You will automatically study Functional Skills, and if you wish you can add some optional subjects such as a science or language GCSE.
I'm worried about narrowing my options too early...
A Diploma increases your options. If you choose a Level 1 or 2 Diploma in Year 9, you could progress to either a Level 2 or 3 Diploma, A Levels or an Apprenticeship. In Year 12 you could even study a Level 3 Diploma without having studied a Diploma at a lower level and then progress to University or employment. The course you decide to study in Higher Education can be in a different subject area altogether, because Diplomas are all about developing a well-rounded education with transferable skills.
