Foundation Degrees
The college offers a range of qualifications at Level 4 or above, some of which are Foundation Degrees with awards from Bath Spa University, but there are other Higher Level Courses too.
What are Foundation Degrees?
Foundation Degrees are Level 5/Intermediate Higher Education qualifications, equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HNDs), Diplomas of Higher Education or the first two years of a full-time Honours Degree.
Characteristics of a Foundation Degree:
- Provides a combination of academic training and work-related skills;
- Two years full-time study, although for some FDs this involves just one day of formal academic tuition per week, with the rest of the time spent studying vocationally in your workplace;
- Entry requirements: an academic qualification at Level 3 (A-Level or NVQ Level 3, for example)[160-200 UCAS Tariff points; e.g. BC; CD & AS c], but some Fds also place considerable emphasis on relevant work experience;
- There is potential to progress to a compatible honours degree at the end of the two years
Fd in Education Studies for Teaching Assistants
This course is for those currently employed as teaching assistants who wish to improve their qualifications and their knowledge and understanding of the job. Fd in Health and Social Care Management
This is a work based and career orientated course that is aimed at people working, either full-time or part-time, in the health and social care sector including related charities and the voluntary sector. Fd in Management and Management Systems
This course concentrates on the internal and external influences that affect the business and management environment. It examines the role of information systems in the business environment and places them in the organisational context. This allows the exploration of the interface between information technology and the key environmental factors, political, economic, and social, that constrain an organisation's activities. As a result, whilst technical aspects of management systems are emphasised, with modules offered in computer forensics, computer programming, multi-media planning, and management information systems, the core functions of business are also dealt with including business and management, numbers in business, accounting, and human resource management..• More information on this course >>
